I was a Jeff Healey fan from the beginning with his debut album. I wasn’t familiar with LAST CALL until last week. I was thrilled to listen to it. It reminded me of Django Rheinhart and Stephan Grappelli at the Hot Club In Paris. Your can hear Jeff’s passion in his playing and vocals. I played some of Jeff’s music periodically on my radio show before the station was sold and the format changed.

I was just listening to this last weekend! So much of Jeff’s personality comes out on this, and especially love the Eddie Lang/Joe Venuti and Lonnie Johnson inspired tunes. Brilliant!

(Alec was not only Jeff’s bass player in the Jeff Healey Blues Band (aka the ‘Healey’s House Band’), he also recorded and mixed 9 of the 14 cuts on Last Call and is a much sought-after, award winning producer as well!)

I recorded the bulk of this record very quickly, mostly using a ribbon mic and analog tape. Jeff had a ball recording this one and it shows in his performances.
